El Calafate & El Chaltén Holidays

south & central america
El Calafate is the gateway to one of Argentina’s most impressive natural wonders - the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier set within the Los Glaciares National Park. Take a cruise on the lake, towards the glacier face and walk on the observation walkways to view this colossal wall of ice. Often, huge chunks of ice break off and crash into the waters below, causing a thunderous sound and remarkable spectacle.

Most visitors to the glacier will stay in El Calafate and the town offers a variety of hotels and several shops and restaurants. There are also several luxury lodges and remote Estancias located in the nearby wilderness for those looking for seclusion in an awe-inspiring setting.

The small mountain town of El Chaltén is known as Argentina’s capital of trekking and is an outdoor enthusiasts dream. Four hours drive from El Calafate and lying at the base of the towering Fitz Roy Massif, surrounded by forests, lakes and mountains, the location is simply unbeatable for hiking. Many visitors are lured in by the Laguna de Los Trek hike (Fitz Roy Base Camp) for the most impressive views of Mount Fitz Roy, if you only do one hike in Argentina - let it be this one.
