WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT THE INDIAN SUBCONTINENT?

The best time to visit the Indian subcontinent varies considerably by region. Travel is typically at its most comfortable everywhere during the ‘cooler’ months of October to April, though the Himalayan region can be rather chilly December to February.

From May, temperatures start to soar. They reach their peak just before the monsoon which brings very wet and humid weather to most of the subcontinent between June and September. The exception is Ladakh and the far north Himalayas, which are at their best during this time.

In Sri Lanka, the monsoon largely affects the south west coast - the central regions can be visited year round and the east coast beaches are perfect during the summer months.
