Amazon Holidays

south & central america
The Amazon Rainforest is the largest in the world, spanning nine countries and covering almost 7 million square kilometres of South America. Shared across Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana, the sheer size and scale can be difficult to comprehend. With 10% of the worlds known biodiversity, the Amazon is home to thousands of fascinating species including pink river dolphins, sloths, anacondas and caiman.

Brazil, Peru, Ecuador and Bolivia are all home to comfortable lodges nestled deep within the rainforest, offering the perfect base for an Amazon Jungle holiday. Brazil and Peru also offer the chance to journey along sections of the mighty Amazon River on board a cruise. All Amazon lodge and cruise holidays are inclusive of incredible activities, which typically include Amazon Rainforest tours, jungle hikes, canopy walks, piranha fishing and canoe trips.

Trailfinders offers a range of Amazon Rainforest holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore the jungle as part of a longer Private Tour or float down the river on an Amazon cruise – they are the perfect people to ask.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT THE AMAZON RAINFOREST?

True to its name, the Amazon Rainforest is generally hot, humid and wet!

Despite this it does have two varying seasons. The wet season runs from December to June (although this varies slightly by country), bringing vitality to the rainforest and high water levels which allow for boat tours through the flooded forest.

July onward is considered the dry season, providing a greater chance of spotting wildlife lazing along the river banks.
