Nyerere National Park Holidays

africa
Vast, remote and wild, Nyerere National Park (formerly known as Selous Game Reserve) covers an area almost four times the size of the Serengeti and offers a slice of Africa that is off the radar of most travellers. Spot hippos and crocodiles as you cruise along the Rufiji River, enjoy a walking safari through the extensive grasslands or look out for endangered wild dogs, buffalos and lions on exciting game drives. Boasting an amazing diversity of landscapes and experiences, a Nyerere safari holiday offers pristine wilderness and a rich variety of wildlife.

As part of Tanzania's 'southern circuit', a Nyerere safari combines well with Ruaha National Park, which offers a contrasting environment. Nyerere is also ideal to pair with Zanzibar holiday for a relaxing beach break, as there are flights routing from the camps via Dar es Salaam directly to Zanzibar.

Trailfinders offers a range of Nyerere safaris and we have a dedicated team of destination specialists who are a mine of information, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to visit Nyerere National Park on a private safari, to create an exciting multi centre holiday or are simply looking for advice on the best lodge to stay in – they are the perfect people to ask.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT NYERERE NATIONAL PARK?

The best time to visit Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve) is from June to October, when you will encounter dry weather and clear skies combined with cooler temperatures.

This time of year offers excellent game viewing as vegetation is sparse and the drier climate means a high concentration of animals congregate around the waterholes
