Namibia Holidays

africa
Namibia holidays promise visitors a truly unique travelling experience with landscapes, culture and wildlife encounters unlike anywhere else in Africa.

Quaint Germanic towns dot Namibia's dramatic landscape, ranging from spectacular red rock canyons through Sossusvlei's sweeping sand dunes and glistening salt pans to the jagged Erongo mountains. Beyond these more famous sights, lesser known wonders such as Damaraland’s bushmen rock galleries, the awe inspiring Fish River Canyon or the starkly beautiful Skeleton Coast, will linger in the memory.

And of course no one can forget Etosha National Park. One of the largest parks in Africa, Etosha's vast plains are amazing to explore and the water holes on the fringe of the expansive Etosha Pan provide a welcome refuge for thousands of grazing animals. Zebra, wildebeest and impala congregate here in huge herds during the dry season and lion, leopard and cheetah are also a common sight.

Trailfinders offers a wide range of Namibia holidays and our expert travel consultants are mines of information about the country, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore Namibia on a fly drive holiday, join a sociable small group tour, or are looking for advice on a multi-centre holiday – they are the perfect people to ask.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT NAMIBIA?

Namibia's temperate climate and 300 days of sunshine means there is never a bad time to travel. Summers are warm and sunny with cold evenings, whilst the winter is hot with the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms.

Wildlife viewing is easier in dry season (Jul-Oct) as animals tend to cluster at the water holes. However this is also the peak travel season so be prepared for more visitors and ensure to book well in advance.

For a truly 'out of this world' experience self-drive the spectacularly surreal Namib Desert. Vast landscapes, open roads and not another car in sight!

Abbi Harris - Namibia expert
Abbi Harris

With hardly any light pollution, the stars of the Southern Hemisphere are not to be missed. Nothing tops watching a glorious Namibian sunset followed by a crystal clear view of the Milky Way from just outside your lodge.

Ivan Christian - Namibia expert
Ivan Christian

Twyfelfontein Country Lodge in Damaraland is one of the most stunning locations I have stayed in with a backdrop of red sandstone. The rooms are a good size and have a lovely small decking out the front. They're a 10 minute drive to the rock engravings and 20 mins form the Damara Living Museum. There's also amazing birdlife all around the property!
