Alaska Holidays

canada & alaska
By far the largest state in the USA, Alaska holidays offer profoundly beautiful national parks, superb wildlife and charming pioneer towns.

The dramatic coast of Alaska is strewn with gigantic glaciers and attractions including the Glacier Bay National Park and the Hubbard Glacier, a wall of ice over 5 miles wide. Inland you’ll find North America's highest peak, Mount McKinley in vast Denali National Park.

It’s not just the scenery that’s big and impressive in Alaska – the wildlife does not disappoint! Spot bears and moose on land and whales, orcas or puffins in the surrounding waters while bald eagles fill the skies.

Alaska’s towns offer a glimpse into their pioneering history and are the gateway for incredible experiences including riding the Alaska Railroad, exploring the jaw-dropping Misty Fjord National Monument from Ketchikan or heading out into the wilderness by dog sled from Juneau.

Trailfinders offers a range of Alaska holidays and our expert travel consultants are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore by Alaska Railroad, a fly drive holiday or an Alaska cruise – they are the perfect people to ask.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT ALASKA?

The best time to visit Alaska is between late May and early September. Spring begins to bloom in late May and restaurants, excursions and many remote hotels begin to open up. The long summer days of July and August bring more visitors but plenty of hiking, bear watching and summer sun. A visit in early autumn treats you to blazing fall colours and much of the wilderness all to yourself.
