Burma (Myanmar) Holidays

asia
Burma holidays, or Myanmar holidays if you prefer, offer a host of treasures to captivate travellers; from gleaming golden pagodas and bustling local markets to serene riverside landscapes.

The most recognisable sight in Burma is the 2,200 or more temples spread out over Bagan’s plains reaching as far as the eye can see. Inle Lake is also a destination not to be missed, with its traditional stilted over water houses and floating gardens, its leg-rowing fisherman and vibrant weekly markets.

Enjoy visiting glorious former royal capitals, charming rural scenes, magical river cruises along the Irrawaddy or Chindwin rivers and if you want a little time to unwind, head to Burma’s beautiful beaches on the west coast.

Trailfinders offers a range of Burma holidays and we have a dedicated team of destination specialists who are a mine of information about what to do here, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to explore Burma with your own private driver and guide, on a cycling holiday or a sociable small group tour – they are the perfect people to ask.

Burma (Myanmar) Top Tips From Our Travel Experts

Tim Cockburn - Burma (Myanmar) expert
Tim Cockburn

Burma is all about sunrises! Get up early and see the sun rising over the temples of Bagan, in a temple on top of Mandalay hill or reflecting off Inle lake.

Michelle Tachon - Burma (Myanmar) expert
Michelle Tachon

Kayaking is a great way to explore Inle Lake. You can get to parts of the lakes that larger boats can't and most tours end with a meal/snack with the locals giving you a really authentic experience

Abbi Harris - Burma (Myanmar) expert
Abbi Harris

The markets of Yangon, Bagan & Inle Lake are some of the most authentic I've experienced. Stroll between stalls laden with fresh fruit, vegetables and flowers, sample the local street food or stop for a coffee with the locals - this is sure to be a highlight of your trip!
