Lake Manyara National Park Holidays

africa
This small park enjoys a spectacular setting beside the Rift Valley escarpment. Famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions, as well as elephants, buffalo and flamingos, holidays to Lake Manyara offer a diverse wildlife experience within a relatively small area. The alkaline waters of Lake Manyara cover two-thirds of the park in wet season and attract a diverse array of wildlife. In the wet season the bird life here is astounding, with hundreds of colourful birds flocking to the brackish waters. Thanks to its convenient location en route to the Serengeti, its beautiful landscape and wide array of animals and birds, this is one of Tanzania’s most popular parks.

Lake Manyara is just a short drive from Arusha, making it a very accessible safari destination with a variety of activities available, including night safaris. Alternatively, the park can be visited on the way to the Karatu district of the Ngorongoro Highlands or combined with the Serengeti.

Trailfinders offers a range of Lake Manyara National Park safaris and and we have a dedicated team of destination specialists who are a mine of information, often with first-hand travel experience. Whether you want to visit Lake Manyara National Park on a private tour, join a small group safari or are looking for advice on the best lodge to stay in – they are the perfect people to ask.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK?

Wildlife viewing is good year round, but the best time to visit Lake Manyara National Park is from late June to October when the weather is dry and sunny. At this time animals are migrating into the park from the surrounding areas and tend to congregate near the lake and waterholes.

This scenic park is also very beautiful during the wet season, from November to May, when the vegetation is lush and waterfalls cascade down the escarpment. This is the best time to view the amazing bird life who flock to the lake.
