Itinerary
Day 1 Siem Reap
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Temples of Angkor
Today visit the intricate temples of the Small Circuit, exploring the crumbling towers of atmospheric Ta Prohm shrouded by vines and the magical temple of Bayon with its many enigmatic faces. After a break from the midday heat, visit the 12th Century temple of Angkor Wat and end the day watching the sun set from a nearby viewpoint.
Day 3 Temples of Angkor
Spend a morning at leisure before discovering the expansive temple complex of Preah Khan, a labyrinth of narrow passages, vaulted courtyards and stone carvings. The rest of the afternoon can be spent exploring further temples around the park. In the evening enjoy an incredible performance by ‘Phare, the Cambodian Circus’, Cambodia’s equivalent to Cirque du Soleil. Inspiring and entertaining, this is an unmissable experience when in Siem Reap.
Day 4 Tonlé Sap Lake or Beng Mealea & Banteay Srey
In the high water season (approx Jul - Feb) head to nearby Tonlé Sap Lake, where you will take a boat trip to one of the stilted villages. In the low water season this morning will be spent visiting the remote, overgrown temple of Beng Mealea. Later explore the pretty temple of Banteay Srey.
Day 5 Siem Reap to Phnom Penh
An interesting drive takes you through the countryside to Cambodia’s bustling capital, Phnom Penh. Please speak to your travel consultant if you prefer to fly this route.
Day 6 Phnom Penh
Explore Phnom Penh on this full day tour. Your day will begin at the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek and Tuol Sleng Museum, offering a sobering and deeply moving reminder of Cambodia’s recent tragic history. Later visit the glittering Royal Palace and the fascinating National Museum, before enjoying a sunset river cruise and watching Phnom Penh’s popular riverfront come to life.
Day 7 Phnom Penh
Transfer to the airport.
Additional Options: Why not complete your adventure with some relaxation on one of Cambodia’s beautiful beaches. Alternatively visit the lush rainforest of the Cardamom Mountains or the charming colonial towns of Kep & Kampot. Just a short journey from Phnom Penh, these options can be easily added to our Classic Cambodia tour.
