Trailfinders' Dave Hayeems gives an insight into The Peninsula Bangkok
The Peninsula Bangkok Expert Review
Dave Hayeems
The Peninsula has a fantastic location on the river in the heart of Bangkok. The property is all you would expect of a 5★ hotel and more.
The pool area is great with water and treats provided. The spa offers free access to the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi - if the city isn’t hot enough for you - and a cold plunge pool if it is!
Our favourite area was the outdoor terrace bar dining area on the riverfront, and this is where breakfast is taken. The breakfast range is an exceptional standard and variety from traditional pastries, cheeses, an egg station etc, through to Thai, Indian and Japanese options.
The hotel offers a free ferry to a few destinations; to the pier for onward paid ferries, over the river to their own little ferry terminal, or to the large mall near the hotel, Icon Siam, which has everything to satisfy a shopaholic. It also has a great food hall in the basement with everything from Thai street food to pizza and a bar.
Rooms feel large with a separate changing area and all have views over the river and the city which is spectacular at night.
The Peninsula truly is a special place to stay in Bangkok.
