Trailfinders' Chris Cawthorn gives an insight into Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok
Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok Expert Review
Chris Cawthorn
History and exclusivity are what set the Mandarin Oriental apart from the many other 5★ hotels in Bangkok. The rooms are all recently refurbished, with a light and fresh feel. Every room is assigned a butler who explains some of the many features of the room when you arrive. The old wing of the hotel is stunning and it feels like going back in time. There are about a dozen Author's Suites which are all individually decorated in the style of the writer that once stayed there. The food at the hotel is amazing.
Top tip: A huge, brand-new shopping centre called Iconsiam has been built opposite, and the hotel have a complimentary ferry that runs back and forth. This only takes about five minutes and there are dozens of eating options there.
