Set on a sweeping stretch of unspoilt beach overlooking the South China Sea, this lovely resort has been beautifully designed in a traditional Malay style. Spend your days relaxing by one of the pools, unwind with a treatment at the award-winning spa or choose from an excellent range of activities. The resort’s peaceful location on Malaysia’s sleepy east coast makes it the ideal place to get away from it all.
Please note Water based activities are not available between October and February due to wet season sea conditions. The wet season in this area is particularly pronounced between November and December.

Trailfinders' James Ferdinando gives an insight into Tanjong Jara Resort, Kuala Terengganu
Tanjong Jara Resort, Kuala Terengganu Expert Review
James Ferdinando
Tanjong Jara is a wonderful resort and a perfect option for a twin centre holiday when combing it with a stopover in Kuala Lumpur (just a one hour flight away), Penang or Langkawi.
The restaurants offer amazing cuisine and are very affordable. There are no local restaurants/stores nearby so it’s reassuring that meals and drinks at the resort aren't too costly (particularly during the daily happy hour when drinks are two for one!).
There are some amazing local activities such as a bike tour, hikes and a trip to the local market (where you can pick up lots of local snacks and questionable replica football shirts) to name just a few. I definitely recommend booking a snorkelling trip with the watersports department to go to Tenggol Island where between August and October there's regular whale shark sightings.
I did a quick site inspection and all room types looked comfortable and of a good size, plus all face the South China Sea. We stayed in the Anjung Room which was amazing; a great size plus had an outside hot tub which a nice little treat.
Top tip: There's a turtle hatchery on site. If you’re staying at the resort between late May and early June then helping to release the hatchlings into the sea is a magical must!
