Trailfinders' Sarika Ambasna gives an insight into The Residence Zanzibar
The Residence Zanzibar Expert Review
Sarika Ambasna
We had a great time at the Residence Zanzibar and would highly recommend it to both couples and families. Firstly the rooms were enormous, with a large living area, terrace and the biggest private pool I've seen! We had a Garden Villa which was really private, surrounded by lush gardens and palm trees.
Although the resort is fairly large, I really liked that each room has its own bikes to get around. There are plenty of complimentary activities to keep you occupied including non-motorised watersports, tennis and yoga. We also went to the spa a few times and the massages were excellent, just what you need after a tiring safari!
Food was good, most meals were served at the main dining room, and lunch is always a la carte. Dinner was normally buffet style with different themes including Italian, Swahili and Indian evenings. For our honeymoon they also organised a beach dinner which was very special.
The beach had beautiful white sand, but when the tide is out it is not possible to swim. When the tide is in however the waters were a beautiful turquoise and warm!
Top tip: Go out to the pier for sunset, it’s a lovely way to end the day!
