Rufiji River Camp

One of the first to be established in Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), this popular camp offers simple but comfortable accommodation on the banks of the Rufiji River. As well as hippos and crocodiles in the river, a host of other animals can be spotted coming to the river to drink. Activities available at the camp include game drives, walking safaris and river safaris (depending on water levels). Designed to maximise the river views, the open-sided dining room and lounge bar feature stone floors and comfortable furnishings beneath a thatched roof. There is also a library, fire pit and pool. Set under pitched thatched roofs along the river, the 11 fan-cooled Classic Tents are simply decorated with a large veranda.
