Mbali Mbali Mahale

Accessible only by light aircraft and then a dhow boat transfer, this remote lodge enjoys a stunning location beside a secluded stretch of beach on Lake Tanganyika. The main focus is chimpanzee tracking in the surrounding Mahale Mountains National Park (1 trek per day) but other activities such as fishing, kayaking and bird-watching can also be arranged, as well as boat trips on the lake. The open-sided main house is simply but elegantly furnished and provides the perfect location in which to relax and soak up the lake views. Later enjoy a sundowner around the camp before dinner. The 9 comfortable fan-cooled thatched tents are nestled on the edge of the forest and feature private decks with views of Lake Tanganyika.
