Location: Spioenkop Game Reserve, a 30 minute drive from Spioenkop Battlefield and a 2½ hour drive from the battlefields of Rorke’s Drift and Isandlwana.
Against the magnificent backdrop of the Drakensberg Mountains, this charming property overlooks the famous hill, Spioenkop: the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the Anglo-Boer War. In addition to joining an evocative battlefields tour run by passionate guides directly from the lodge, there is a host of activities to keep the whole family entertained. Look out for some of the 300 recorded bird species found near Three Trees on a scenic nature walk, or perhaps explore the grounds by bike or on horseback. Game walks and rhino tracking in neighbouring Spioenkop Game Reserve can be arranged, as well as hot air ballooning, canopy tours and guided hikes into the Drakensberg. With spectacular scenery and superb hospitality, this lovely family-run lodge offers the ideal environment in which to unwind and rejuvenate.
