A romantic, secluded and truly unique hideaway, Tsala is built within a canopy of indigenous forest. Elevated wooden walkways meander through the trees to ten exclusive suites and six luxury villas. The added privacy offered from the surrounding canopy allows you to enjoy the sounds of nature in a peaceful and tranquil setting. Food is an absolute highlight, so as well as sampling the freshest local produce in the lodge’s main restaurant, don’t miss a visit to Zinzi, just a short walk through the forest, for international flavours and some of the best food along the Garden Route. A very special property, Tsala offers an intimate and unforgettable experience.

Trailfinders' Zoe Milton gives an insight into Tsala Treetop Lodge, Plettenberg Bay
Tsala Treetop Lodge, Plettenberg Bay Expert Review
Zoe Milton
I was really looking forward to staying at the Tsala Treetop Lodge, and it didn’t disappoint!
The location is stunning and a real hideaway, just a short ten minute drive from Plettenberg with gorgeous views over the treetops. The suites are beautiful with a plunge pool, huge windows and spacious bathroom. They also have an included minibar along with a selection of different spirits.
Dining at both Zinzi and the main hotel restaurant was amazing. I really recommend both, it was some of the best food we ate in South Africa.
Top tip: Stay for three nights if possible - it felt like the perfect length of stay so we could explore Plettenberg, the Robberg Nature Reserve and relax at Tsala.
