Mont Rochelle Hotel & Mountain Vineyards, Franschhoek Expert Review
Mark Harris
From the moment you arrive at Mont Rochelle you are made to feel extremely welcome. The Duty Manager will meet you with a drink and sit you on the terrace overlooking the gardens and valley beyond. This is where you do your paperwork before being taken on a short stroll around the property.
The gardens are stunning and peaceful, and the pool gorgeous and warm. They offer a shuttle service between the property and town, and you just need to get the restaurant to call them to come and get you. Nothing is too much trouble.
The breakfasts are excellent and if you intend to dine in the restaurant in the evening, I suggest you make a reservation prior to arriving.
We had excellent weather for two days, and rain on the last. I was just as happy drinking wine and reading by the pool as I was by the log fire on the last day.
The property allow kids, so is suitable for families and couples alike.
Top tip: If budget allows, I recommend upgrading to the rooms above the entry level as they are larger and have superior views.
