Itinerary
Day 1 Salt Lake City
Arrive in Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah, and transfer to your airport. This evening join your Travel Director for a welcome dinner with wine, and meet your fellow guests.
Day 2 Salt Lake City to Jackson
Drive along the scenic Logan Canyon, over the Wasatch Mountain Range, and up to the Bear Lake Summit. Stop for lunch at Garden City, Utah while enjoying views of the beautiful turquoise waters of Bear Lake. Head north across the Oregon Trail to historic Jackson, enjoy the rest of the evening at leisure.
Day 3 Jackson to Yellowstone NP
Wake up to a stunning mountainous view of the striking Grand Tetons. This morning, partake in an optional scenic float down the Snake River inside Grand Teton National Park. Later, enter Yellowstone National Park, tonight you’ll stay in the National Park Lodges, for an after hours experience of the park.
Day 4 Yellowstone NP
Savour the surreal surroundings of Yellowstone walking among the rainbow tinted hot springs and watching the erupting geysers. Catch the colourful bubbling mud pots and see Old Faithful geyser shooting water over 30m into the air. Cruise through Hayden Valley, keeping an eye out for wildlife.
Day 5 Yellowstone NP to Ucross
Set off on your travels through the stark Shoshone Canyon and Absaroka Rocky Mountains, leading to rustic Cody. Learn about America’s Western legends at the Buffalo Bill Centre before travelling through Bighorn National Forest to the Ranch at UCross. Tonight, you’ll be hosted at a traditional Wyoming Family ranch. After a home-cooked dinner, enjoy a fire pit with live entertainment.
Day 6 Ucross to Spearfish Canyon
Begin your day with a scenic horseback ride accompanied or if you’re looking for a slower pace, go fishing and relax while taking in your beautiful surroundings. Head to Devils Tower, an astounding geological feature and experience the elvish woodland beauty of Spearfish Canyon.
Day 7 Spearfish Canyon to Custer State Park
Look out for the pronghorn antelope as you cross the great high plains to the Black Hills of South Dakota. Visit Badlands National Park in South Dakota and admire the astounding beauty of the sharply eroded buttes blended with the vast mixed grass prairie. Continue on to Custer State Park, renowned for its beautiful landscape and abundant wildlife.
Day 8 Custer State Park
Travel to the iconic Mount Rushmore National Memorial, then join an experience at the Crazy Horse Memorial, a mountain carving created in honour of the Lakota warrior. This experience offers exclusive access to get up close with the monument and learn the historical significance behind it. End the day with a farewell dinner as you reflect with your travel companions.
Day 9 Custer State Park to Denver
Your journey comes to end today. Say goodbye to your travel companions and depart Rapid City on a scheduled shuttle bus transfer arranged by the Travel Director.
