Itinerary
Days 1-2 Denver
Pick up your car and explore Denver, which boasts a stunning Rocky Mountain backdrop, impressive sports and music venues and a thriving downtown area.
Day 3 Denver to Estes Park
Heading north brings you to the mountain resort of Estes Park, gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Day 4 Rocky Mountain NP
Travel into the park and on to the scenic Trail Ridge Road (open approx Jun - Oct). This is one of the highest paved roads in the USA which tops out at over 3,600m.
Day 5 Estes Park to Glenwood Springs
Relax in Glenwood Hot Springs, the world’s largest mineral swimming pool.
Day 6 Glenwood Springs to Grand Junction
Grand Junction is surrounded by wineries and orchards and is an ideal base for visiting the Colorado National Monument.
Day 7 Colorado National Monument
Spend the day exploring incredible rock formations and cruise along Rim Rock Drive to see jagged buttes, huge sandstone monoliths and steep canyons.
Day 8 Grand Junction to Mesa Verde NP
Today travel to this captivating UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Ancestral Pueblo people lived here from AD 600-1300 and left behind over 4,000 archaeological sites.
Day 9 Mesa Verde NP
Visit the fascinating Pueblo cliff dwellings on a Ranger-led tour. The Cliff Palace is especially impressive.
Day 10 Mesa Verde NP to Durango
It’s just a short drive to delightful Durango. This historic town is nestled in the San Juan Mountains and features Victorian era Wild West architecture.
Day 11 Durango
Today, perhaps take a ride on the scenic Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. All aboard this wonderful steam locomotive!
Day 12 Durango to Alamosa
Travel on to Alamosa, gateway to the mesmerising Great Sand Dunes National Park which boasts the tallest dunes in North America.
Day 13 Alamosa to Colorado Springs
Head north to Colorado Springs.
Day 14 Colorado Springs
This welcoming city is home to the striking Gardens of the Gods park. Enjoy sensational views from Pikes Peak Cog Railway. Climbing to over 4,000m it’s the highest railway in the USA.
Day 15 Colorado Springs to Denver
Return to the Mile High city to drop off your car and for your flight home.
