Itinerary
Day 1 Charlotte
Arrive in the modern and cosmopolitan city of Charlotte. The quintessentially southern sport of stock car racing is celebrated at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Day 2 Charlotte to Hilton Head Island
Drive into South Carolina and down to Hilton Head, a stunning barrier island with miles of pristine, natural beaches.
Day 3 Hilton Head Island
The island is renowned for its golf courses and also boasts over 60 miles of cycling paths. Take to the water on a kayak or dolphin watching cruise.
Day 4 Hilton Head Island to Charleston
Continue on to Charleston, one of America’s most beautiful and best preserved cities.
Day 5 Charleston
Stroll around this romantic city’s Historic District, full of wonderful historic mansions and enchanting gardens fragranced with the scent of magnolia and azaleas.
Day 6 Charleston to Myrtle Beach
Head along the coast to fun-filled Myrtle Beach, home to miles of sandy beaches, boardwalk amusements and funfairs.
Day 7 Myrtle Beach to Wilmington
Arrive at the historic river port of Wilmington. Enjoy horse-drawn carriage rides and a lovely riverwalk lined with cafés and shops. Perhaps visit the impressive USS North Carolina battleship.
Day 8 Cape Fear
Wilmington makes an ideal base from which to explore the Cape Fear area. Discover its seaside towns, sweeping beaches and the waterways of the Cape Fear River.
Day 9 Wilmington to Kitty Hawk
Continue on to the laidback beach town of Kitty Hawk situated along the idyllic Outer Banks. This long series of skinny islands are connected by the Outer Banks Scenic Byway.
Day 10 Outer Banks
Admire the beaches, sand dunes and lighthouses that dot this remarkable coastline. Uncover the area’s fascinating history, from Elizabethan colonists and Blackbeard the pirate to the Wright brothers’ first flight.
Day 11 Kitty Hawk to Raleigh
Journey inland to North Carolina’s capital, which enjoys a walkable downtown and a plethora of museums.
Day 12 Raleigh to Asheville
Creative Asheville has bags of charm, as well as plentiful coffee shops, restaurants and microbreweries. It’s also ideally situated for exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Days 13-14 Great Smoky Mountains
Discover the ‘Smokies’ beautiful panoramas, waterfalls, hiking trails and scenic drives. There’s an array of flora and fauna and if you’re lucky you might even spot a black bear.
Day 15 Asheville to Charlotte
Leave the mountains behind and head back to Charlotte for your flight home.
