Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive in Atlanta
Welcome to the ‘Capital of the South’! Dynamic Atlanta is packed with culture, history and youthful energy, all while maintaining that southern charm. Perhaps kick off your trip with a wander through the famous painted streets of Five Points or take a ride on the Skyview Atlanta ferris wheel to soak up the dramatic skyline from 20 floors up!
Day 2 Civil Rights History
As the hometown of Martin Luther King Jr, Atlanta is renowned as the heartbeat of the civil rights movement. Join a poignant walking tour of the Sweet Auburn neighbourhood, tracing the very steps the legend walked whilst hearing stories about his life and feeling the inspiration that changed the nation. If you’re still thirsty for knowledge, why not venture uptown to the compelling Atlanta History Centre and dig deeper into the city’s past, or instead catch a movie at the iconic Fox Theatre.
Day 3 Centennial Park District
Today, wander through Downtown Atlanta’s lively Centennial Park District to find a wealth of entertainment and immersive experiences. The excellent National Center for Civil and Human Rights contains experiential exhibits designed to help you understand your role in Dr King’s dream. Alternatively, encounter the underwater word at the huge Georgia Aquarium, or stop by the World of Coca-Cola where there is much to see, smell and taste! Spot familiar sights in Castleberry Hill, the film set for many a blockbuster, then round off your day with a stroll through the beautiful Centennial Olympic Park, home to dancing water fountains and weekly free concerts.
Day 4 Midtown Atlanta
Spend today in vibrant Midtown Atlanta, where you can get your culture fix at a plethora of galleries, quirky museums and performing arts venues. If you’d rather have a breath of fresh air, roam though the stunning Atlanta Botanical Garden to see a spectacle of colour, fragrance and natural beauty. Serene Piedmont Park also offers a retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle – plus a swimming pool to cool off in! Having worked up an appetite, head down to Peachtree Street to take advantage of Atlanta’s thriving foodie scene with an intimate food and cocktail tour. Eat like a local from both popular hangouts and hidden gems, sampling a variety of cuisines over a four delicious courses.
Day 5 Depart Atlanta
Enjoy your final morning in this one-of-a-kind city before your flight home. There’s absolutely time for a last tantalising taste of soul food before heading to the airport!
