Itinerary

Days 1-3  Washington DC  
Arrive in America’s capital and enjoy this handsome city’s array of impressive monuments and memorials. See the White House and walk along the majestic National Mall, home to 11 Smithsonian museums.    

Day 4  Washington DC to Berkley Springs  
Pick up your car and head to West Virginia stopping off at historic and picturesque Harpers Ferry before arriving in charming Berkley Springs.

Day 5  Berkley Springs  
This picturesque town is known for its healing thermal waters and being the home of George Washington’s bathtub! Explore Cacapon Resort State Park’s endless hiking trails and outdoor adventures.  

Day 6  Berkley Springs to Blackwater Falls State Park  
Continue onwards to one of West Virginia’s most popular parks.  

Day 7  Blackwater Falls State Park  
Famous for its cascading waterfalls, this scenic park offers lots of walking trails and viewing platforms from which to take in the scenery, including the Blackwater Canyon. Drive to nearby Dolly Sods Wilderness for sensational views from atop of the plateau.  

Day 8  Blackwater Falls State Park to New River Gorge
Today, travel through the verdant Monongahela National Forest to your cosy lodge resort.  

Day 9 New River Gorge National Park  
Spend the day exploring this beautiful national park. The rugged river which runs through the park is ideal for whitewater rafting, but the jewel in the crown is the vast steel arch bridge. At over 3,000ft long this impressive feat of engineering contrasts dramatically against its forest backdrop.  

Day 10 New River Gorge to Roanoke  
Leave West Virginia behind and cross into Virginia and to the town of Roanoke in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Day 11 Roanoke to Shenandoah National Park  
Head northwards to magnificent Shenandoah.  

Day 12 Shenandoah National Park  
Drive along sensational Skyline Drive, this winding scenic road has a 35mph speed limit allowing for time to soak up the incredible mountain vistas. Head out on a hike to seek out picturesque waterfalls and wildflowers.  

Day 13 Shenandoah National Park to Washington DC  
Enjoy a final morning in the mountains before heading back to Washington for your flight home.
