Itinerary
Days 1-3 Boston
Your epicurean adventure begins in wonderful Boston, a handsome and walkable city renowned for its fresh, succulent seafood. Enjoy lobster in highend restaurants or casual lobster shacks and a bowl of warming clam chowder, served everywhere across the city. There’s also a booming craft and microbrewery scene, making for some enjoyable pub crawls around Boston’s historic pubs.
Days 4-6 New York
Take the Acela Express train from downtown Boston to Manhattan in just 3½ hours. Multicultural New York boasts some of the most diverse cuisine in the world and has restaurants to match, from Michelin starred to retro diners. Home to Little Italy, Chinatown and Jewish delis, the city is a global melting pot of cultures. Join a fascinating walking tour of the Lower East Side and enjoy tasty treats from dumplings to knishes, whilst learning about the area’s immigrant past. In the evening discover the city’s best and coolest bars and work your way through some of New York’s most iconic cocktails including the Cosmopolitan and Manhattan.
Days 7-9 New Orleans
A 3½ hour flight south takes you to the Big Easy. This historic, joyful city is the birthplace of jazz and cocktails. French, Spanish, West African and Native American cultures have blended together to make Louisiana’s unique cuisine – enjoy delicious gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish etouffee. Sample classic dishes and freshly cooked food inspired from around the world such as the famous Po-Boys or Muffuletta sandwich, piled high with Italian meats, cheeses and homemade spicy olive tapenade. There is a food for everyone in this awesome city.
Days 10-11 San Francisco
Head west to the Pacific Ocean. A 4½ hour flight from New Orleans brings you to fabulous San Francisco. Here you’ll find the oldest and largest Chinatown outside of Asia. Dine here for delectable dim sum and head to Fisherman’s Wharf for views of the Golden Gate Bridge as you enjoy San Francisco’s take on clam chowder – unlike Boston, the Bay City serves theirs in a sourdough bowl.
Day 12 Napa Valley & Sonoma Wine Country
This morning get picked up from your San Francisco hotel and join a group tour to California’s premier wine growing regions of Napa and Sonoma. Enjoy the beautiful rolling hills and fields of vineyards as you drive to wineries to sample a robust red, smooth chardonnay or zesty zinfandel.
Days 13-16 San Diego
It’s just a 1½ hour flight down to balmy San Diego in Southern California. This laidback city is blessed with beaches, bays, sunshine and exciting neighbourhoods. Historic Old Town is known as the birthplace of California and is explored on a ‘Tacos & Tequila’ tour, where you’ll sample authentic Mexican specialities and learn tales about the characterful Old Town.
