Itinerary

Day 1  Boston                          
Arrive into Boston and spend the day at leisure to explore the home of such famous figures as Samuel Adams, Paul Revere and Benjamin Franklin. This evening, join your tour director and fellow travellers for a welcome reception.

Day 2  Boston to Manchester    
Explore the Freedom Trail this morning on a city tour of Boston to discover the rich history of the American Revolution. Visit Lexington and Concord, the site where ‘The Shot Heard Round the World’ was fired, before travelling along the Mohawk Trail, an early Native American trade route, en route to Manchester.                          

Day 3  Manchester to Burlington            
Admire the picture-perfect farmlands and old-world towns en route to the historic wool mill in Quechee. Watch master craftsmen create delicate glassware at the famous Simon Pearce workshop and enjoy lunch made with local ingredients arranged on Simon Pearce’s beautiful flatware.

Day 4  Burlington to North Conway            
Start to today with a visit to the Lake Champlain Chocolates for local artisan ice-cream and chocolate. We then head to Stowe, Vermont, a popular winter ski destination, this charming New England town comes to life with the quintessential red and orange hues during the Fall months.

Day 5  Mount Washington              
Journey along an American scenic byway that cuts through White Mountain National Forest for unrivalled views of the White Mountains, Rocky Gorge and the spectacular fall foliage that dots the landscape. Learn of the local flora and fauna of Mount Washington with a local specialist, before returning to North Conway for an afternoon at leisure.

Day 6  North Conway to Bar Harbor      
Travel through the lush pine forests, highlands and river valleys of Maine to the Atlantic swells of Bar Harbor on Mount Desert Island. This evening, enjoy a traditional lobster dinner as you hear tales from a local fisherman about the area’s lobster fishing trade.      

Day 7  Acadia National Park            
Discover Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, the highest point along the Atlantic Seaboard and the first spot in the United States where the sunrise is visible. Soak in the magnificent views over Shoodic Peninsula with its pink granite cliffs and ancient maple forests, the leaves flowing fiery reds, burnt oranges and mustard yellow in the early autumn sun. Return to Bar Harbor for an afternoon at leisure, or perhaps embark on an optional nature cruise on Frenchman Bay.      

Day 8  Bar Harbor to Portsmouth            
Head south past the rocky beaches of Maine’s coast to the mouth of the Piscataqua River and the historic seaport city of Portsmouth, one of the oldest cities in the United States. This evening, join your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner.      
Day 9  Portsmouth to Boston      
Travel back to Boston where your tour comes to an end.
