How it Works

Bamba recommends taking around 16 days to traverse Vietnam, but you can travel at your own pace for up to 12 months, or skip a couple of stops and do it quicker if you’re short on time! It’s your adventure to do your way.    

North Vietnam    
Begin your journey in beautiful, bustling Hanoi – where leafy streets lined with French patisseries contrast with unmistakably Asian street food stalls and the constant hum of motorbikes. Meet a real Vietnamese family and dine in their own house, experiencing a very special immersion into local culture as well as a delicious, authentic meal! Explore the city’s fascinating Old Quarter, parks and museums for as long as you fancy – plus a few nights out on Beer Street – then book your Halong Bay party cruise. Sail into the emerald waters surrounded by dramatic karst mountains with a load of fellow backpackers, jump off deck to go for a swim, chill in the outdoor Jacuzzi, and dance until the sun peeks over the iconic horizon.      

Central Vietnam    
Catch a bus to Hue to get your history fix at this city’s impressive complex of tombs and pagodas. Moving onto colourful Hoi An, join a bike tour around the pretty paddy fields and get treated to another local family meal, then perhaps chill out on the beach while one of the town’s famous tailors creates you a whole new wardrobe. Head off to Nha Trang when you’re ready, and take an included snorkelling day trip to encounter Mun Island’s incredible marine life.    

South Vietnam  
Tan topped up and sea salt in your hair, swap beach for countryside and head off the tourist trail to lesser visited Dalat. Spend an exhilarating day zooming past lakes, waterfalls and forests on the back of a motorbike, stopping off at a coffee farm and a silk factory. Catch a bus to the urban metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City, where you’ll learn all about Vietnam’s tumultuous past with a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels, the subterranean network dug in the Vietnam War. If you want to find out more, head to the War Remnants Museum in the centre of the city, then switch to a slower pace of life in the peaceful Mekong Delta, finishing your adventure with two days cruising down its tranquil waterways and floating markets.
