Itinerary

Days 1-2  Ho Chi Minh City  
Arrive in Ho Chi Minh any time and explore this exciting city at your own pace. Day two is a mix of driving and cycling en route to the Cu Chi Tunnels, used by the Viet Cong during the Vietnam War.

Day 3  Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne        
Cycle on backroads through tropical fruit and rubber plantations en route to the coast at Mui Ne, arriving in time for a beautiful sunset.

Day 4  Mui Ne to Dalat      
Ride undulating hills passing coffee and tea plantations, before making the climb to Dalat to explore the pleasant lakes, palaces and pagodas. Dalat is often described as Vietnam’s most beautiful town.

Days 5-6  Dalat to Whale Island  
Descend through the Bidoup-Nui Ba National Park, through small villages back to the coast. Continue by boat to tiny Whale Island, with its golden sands and palm trees. Enjoy a rest day relaxing on a cruise around the local islands, with a chance to snorkel on some of the spectacular reefs.

Day 7  Whale Island to Quy Nhon        
An early start for the ride to the beautiful fishing village of Dai Lanh, in time for lunch by the beach. Continue by bus on the spectacular coastal cliff road to Quy Nhon.

Days 8-9  Quy Nhon to Hoi An  
Cross the Nhon Hoi Bridge, the longest sea bridge in Vietnam and visit markets and pass secluded bays before transferring to Hoi An. On day nine explore this trading port with its fascinating mix of architecture and search local markets for a bargain.

Day 10  Hoi An to Hue        
Pass over the spectacular Hai Van Pass, known as the Pass of the Ocean Clouds and a challenging climb of 580m. Descend down the other side and head through villages and timeless rural scenes to Hue.

Day 11  Hue to Hanoi        
Explore the city with a guided tour, including the citadel, protecting the palaces and halls of the Mandarins. Take a cruise along the Perfume River to the elaborate tombs of the Nguyen emperors. In the afternoon, board the famous Reunification Express for an overnight sleeper train to Hanoi.

Day 12  Hanoi to Halong Bay      
Your train arrives in time for breakfast before a transfer to beautiful Halong Bay. Enjoy a cruise amongst the limestone peaks and take in the amazing karst scenery before a night on board. There’s also the opportunity to kayak to more remote areas.

Days 13-14  Halong Bay to Hanoi        
Disembark and return to Hanoi. Take a city tour including the Temple of Literature, Hoa Lo Prison and the Old Quarter of the City. Spend a final night with your fellow travellers before your tour ends on the morning of day 14.
