Itinerary
Days 1-2 Bangkok, Thailand
Arrive in the vibrant city of Bangkok, a bustling metropolis with a rich cultural heritage. The following day your senses will go on a whirlwind of chaos, refinement and rewarding sights. Uncover the city’s varying dimensions from tranquil golden temples to forests of gleaming skyscrapers before experiencing authentic Asia on bustling streets. Take to the Chao Phraya River on a longboat, getting an alternative view of the city as you travel to the Pak Klong Talaat Flower Market. This evening enjoy an authentic Thai dinner whilst watching a traditional music and dance show.
Day 3 Bangkok to Chiang Mai
Enjoy the sights and sounds as you shop dine and stroll around Damnoen Saduak Floating Market and the Maeklong railway market. Fly into laidback Chiang Mai this evening.
Day 4 Chiang Mai
Situated in the foothills of Thailand’s northern highlands, today you’ll discover Chiang Mai on a cyclo tour visiting Flok Life Museum, Wat Chedi Luang and ascending to Wat Doi Suthep perched on top of Doi Suthep Mountain. This evening enjoy a traditional Kantoke dinner and a performance of the ancient songs and dances of northern Thailand and wander through the buzzing night bazaar in search of bargains.
Day 5 Chiang Mai to Hmong Hilltribe Lodge
Start the day in a state of relaxation with a group meditation session before heading up into the mesmerising the Suthep-Pui Mountains. Spend the night at the traditional Hmong Hilltribe Lodge amidst the striking natural beauty of the region.
Day 6 Hmong Hilltribe Lodge to Chiang Rai
Head for the Thai Elephant Care Centre to spend some time with their aging elephants. Later, board a long tail boat on Mae Kok River to Baan Pha Tai, where you'll continue by road to Chiang Rai and explore the colourful night market.
Day 7 Chiang Rai
Explore the charming town of Chiang Rai, visiting the exquisite White Temple and Doi Mae Salong a hill village once at the heart of the area's notorious opium trade.
Day 8 Chiang Rai to Pakbeng, Laos
Rise early to journey to the Laos border where you’ll join your Mekong cruise to Pakbeng. Stop along the way to visit the village of Ban Houei Lumpane before settling in for the night.
Day 9 Pakbeng to Luang Prabang
Today you’ll take to the river again, casually cruising along to the beautiful city of Luang Prabang, topping at the fascinating Pak Ou Caves, a riverside cavern that is full of statues of Buddha that can no longer be used for worship.
Day 10 Luang Prabang
Filled with vivd coulors and rich heritage Luang Prabang is the quintessential represemtation of Laos. Learn about the Sa Paper and local handcraft production at Ban Xang Khong craft village. Take a tour of the city seeing sights including Wat Visoun and Wat Xieng Thong. Later, spend some time at a local wat, chatting with the friendly monks who love to practice their English.
Day 11 Luang Prabang
Early this morning you’ll watch the Buddhist ceremony of Takbat, these lines of silent saffron robe-clad monks will be a remarkable aspect of your trip. After breakfast, ascend Phousi Hill for panoramic views over the town and see the treasures at the National Museum. Venture out of town to marvel at the cascading turquoise waters of the enchanting Kuang Si Waterfalls before returning to Luang Prabang.
Day 12 Luang Prabang to Vientiane
Enjoy a day at leisure before your short flight to Vientiane. Check in to your hotel on arrival, Laos’ laid-back capital mixes French colonial architecture with golden Buddhist. Notable shrines sit along Vientiane’s tree-lined streets, and its many bakeries, cafés and villas seem straight out of 19th Century Paris.
Day 13 Vientiane
Nestled in a sleepy bend of the Mekong, Vientiane is a delightfully quaint town swiftly developing into a modern Asian city. Spend the day exploring with a visit to Talaat Sao market, Wat Phra Keo (a former temple that now houses a museum), and the Patuxai Victory Monument, known as the Arc de Triomphe of Vientiane. Finally, wander the magical Buddha Park before enjoying a dinner and a traditional Laos music and dance performance this evening.
Day 14 Vientiane
Transfer to the airport for your departing flight.
