Itinerary
Days 1-2 Bangkok
Arrive in Bangkok and transfer to your hotel, later in the evening meet your fellow travellers at a welcome meeting and dinner. After breakfast on day 2, discover this lively city with a sightseeing tour taking in Wat Pho, the Grand Palace and a canal tour.
Days 3-4 Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
Head north to the provincial town of Kanchanaburi. To commemorate the prisoners of war who died building the infamous ‘death railway’, you’ll visit the War Cemetery and Hellfire Pass Memorial. On day 4, travel to Erawan National Park and admire the pretty waterfall and the emerald green pond, before heading back to take a historical train journey along the well-known railway.
Day 5 Kanchanburi to Ayutthaya
This morning, head to Ayutthaya, one of the ancient capitals, and explore the elaborate 13th and 14th Century temple complex which features one of Ayutthaya’s oldest temples that houses a 19 metre high Buddha. In the evening spend some time on a traditional rice barge and devour a delicious Thai dinner.
Days 6-7 Ayutthaya to Sukhothai
Rural Thailand is idyllic. Travel through beautiful landscapes of limestone by train and road to Sukhothai, one of the first ancient capitals of the Kingdom of Siam. On day 7, enjoy a cycling tour around the World Heritage listed historical park before a picnic lunch in the grounds. This evening enjoy a fabulous home cooked dinner with a local family.
Days 8-9 Sukhothai to Mae Taeng
Travel from Sukhothai to the Mae Taeng region. You will be staying in the unique Lisu Lodge, a community-based project supporting the nearby hill tribe. Here you'll learn to prepare traditional Thai food and weave palm leaves to create ornaments and accessories before enjoying a tasty campfire dinner.
Days 10-11 Mae Taeng to Chiang Mai
While on the way to Chiang Mai, visit the Elephant Nature Park, dedicated to rehabilitation and protection of these majestic animals. In Chiang Mai explore the ornate Buddhist temple complex of Doi Suthep before enjoying a farewell dinner.
Day 12 Chiang Mai
Your tour ends after breakfast this morning.
