This half day tour of the capital avoids the classic sights and instead allows you to gain a better understanding of what life in Laos is actually like for local people. Head out of the city to Wat Sok Pa Luang, stopping en route to purchase offerings for the monks. You will be able to have an informal chat to one of the monks about Buddhism or the life of a monk. Continue to a traditional textile shop and then visit the Lao Disabled Women Development Centre and COPE, an association working to help landmine victims.
