Take an overnight trip to visit Kyaiktiyo Pagoda, popularly known as the Golden Rock and one of Burma's most important pilgrimage sites. Travel 5 hours by train from Rangoon, an experience in itself, to the town of Kyaikto before continuing to Kinpun camp where you will transfer to an open-air truck to reach the top of Kyaikhtiyo mountain. See the stunning gold-leaf boulder balancing precariously on the cliff edge, said to contain a single Buddha hair which maintains its equilibrium. The next morning return to Yangon by road, stopping to see the former capital of Bago and the Allied War Cemetery at Htaukkyan.
