Itinerary
Days 1-2 Mandalay
Explore the historic area around Mandalay starting at Sagaing Hill, the religious centre of Burma, home to hundreds of pagodas and monasteries. Continue south to Ava and discover the ruins of this former capital by horse and cart, followed by a stroll along the famous U Bein Bridge in Amarapura.
Day 3 Mandalay to Bagan
Visit Kuthodaw Pagoda and see the fantastic views from the top of Mandalay Hill before the drive south to Bagan.
Days 4-5 Bagan
Spend the next couple of days exploring Bagan’s temple-studded plains. Visit a selection of these incredible monuments and enjoy a horse-drawn cart ride through the magical landscape. Watch the sun set from a hilltop viewpoint, visit a colourful market and explore some of Bagan’s lesser visited temples. End your time in Bagan with a sunset river cruise along the Irrawaddy River.
Day 6-7 Inle Lake
Fly to Heho and drive to Inle Lake. Board a private motorised longboat and enjoy spectacular scenery as you cruise past traditional stilted villages and floating gardens before visiting the sacred Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. On market days you can visit the morning market in one of the lakeside villages. Afterwards, explore the incredible collection of stupas at Indein.
Days 8-10 Rangoon (Yangon)
Drive to Heho for your flight to Yangon. Spend your days here exploring the city’s colonial landmarks, bustling Little India and Chinatown and famous Bogyoke Market. Finish your journey at the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda.
Additional Options: Extend your stay in Burma and take a short flight west across the mountains to stunning Ngapali Beach on the Bay of Bengal. Explore small fishing villages that dot the area and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
