Itinerary
Days 1-2 Yangon
Arrive into Yangon and transfer to your hotel. Later in the evening meet your fellow travellers at a welcome meeting. Begin day two with a city walking tour of Yangon. Later visit the holiest shrine in the country, the Shwedagon Paya. This gold-gilded pagoda is studded with diamonds and gems, and said to contain eight hairs of the Buddha.
Day 3 Yangon to Bagan
Take a morning flight to Nyuang-U. On arrival transfer to the ancient city of Bagan, once the site of 10,000 temples, pagodas and monasteries.
Day 4 Bagan
Spend the day exploring Bagan and its impressive temple sites by bike before watching the sun set over this magical place.
Days 5-6 Bagan to Myaing
A free morning to further explore the stalls at the archaeological sites, the cafes in town or the nearby Nyuang-U Market. In the afternoon, leave Bagan and travel to Myaing, arriving at your unique community lodge where you will experience a pioneering community based tourism initiative in Myanmar. On day 6, interact with the locals and learn about the culture as you explore nearby villages by bike.
Days 7-8 Community Lodge to Mandalay
Head to Mandalay stopping for lunch en route plus visit the beautiful Sagaing Temples, a collection of gilded stupas on the nearby hills. Take a boat down the famous Irrawaddy River to Mingun on day 8.
Days 9-10 Mandalay to Kalaw
A day of driving as you journey to Kalaw, visiting the U Bein Bridge, the longest teakwood bridge in the world. Hike around the hills of Kalaw on day 10 stopping off at tea plantations and local villages.
Days 11-13 Kalaw to Inle Lake
Leave Kalaw behind for Nyuang Shwe which lies at the northern end of Inle Lake. On day 12 travel by boat and see what local life on the lake is like. Enjoy free time on day 13 and perhaps hire a bike and explore further afield.
Days 14-15 Inle Lake to Yangon
Head back to Yangon and enjoy a farewell dinner with your fellow travellers before your flight home on the morning of day 15.
