Itinerary

Days 1-2  Lima  
Arrive in Lima and transfer to your hotel, spend the rest of the day at leisure. Tonight, indulged in your first taste of Peruvian cuisine. The next day begins at the UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic city centre and takes you on a journey to discover the rich heritage of the previously named city of kings.

Day 3  Lima to the Sacred Valley            
Fly to Cusco and drive through picturesque countryside to the Sacred Valley home to Incan citadels  
and beautiful landscapes. Browse the colourful Pisac market for handicrafts and explore the marvellous ruins unscathed by time. Visit a charming town set on the Urubamba River, Ollantaytambo, where you will meet an Inca community and see their beautifully preserved Inca houses and ancient Inca fortress.

Day 4  Sacred Valley          
Gain a cultural insight into life of the indigenous Quechua community, at the remote village of Huilloc. Talk with villagers and learn from ancient customs, watch in admiration as the women of Huilloc hand weave glorious textiles. For lunch you will enjoy a traditional Quenchua dish but there’ll be a cooking demonstration as it is prepared.

Day 5  Sacred Valley to Machu Picchu    
Board the panoramic Vistadome train on your journey to Aguas Calientes, gateway to the world-famous Macchu Pichu.One of the world’s great archaeological discoveries, Machu Picchu sits on a mountain ridge 2430 metres above the Sacred Valley.

Day 6  Machu Picchu to Cusco    
Spend the morning at leisure and perhaps return to the mesmeric ruins for a stimulating hike up Huayna Picchu, an outlook overlooking Machu Picchu. Or choose to a relaxing soak in the Aguas Calientes’ thermal baths. This afternoon take the train back to Cusco.

Day 7  Cusco            
Home to an incredible Incan legacy, Cusco has some of the richest heritage in Latin America and today you’ll visit the Plaza de Armas where the spirit of a fallen empire is kept alive. Head just out of town to the ruins of Sacsayhuaman and Puka Pukara, the ‘Red Fortess’. This afternoon you can chose to take part in a divine chocolate-making tour, followed by a Peruvian dinner and folklore dance show.

Day 8  Cusco to Puno    
A train will take you through the amazing Andean landscapes to Puno. Enjoy a gourmet lunch prepared with exquisite Andean ingredients whilst passing through the spectacular Peruvian highlands with music and dance shows. Arrive at Puno, on the shores of Lake Titicaca, this evening.

Day 9  Lake Titicaca      
Cruise across the Lake Titicaca the believed to be birthplace of the sun, to the floating islands of Uros. Connect with the local Uros people and explore the island before continuing to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Taquile, a carefully preserved island off the shore of Puno.

Day 10  Puno to Calco Canyon    
Today’s drive is a lengthy one and will take you through Laguinillas and Torca. Look out for flamingos, the blue-beaked Andean ducks, and llamas. Once you reach Pata Pampa, 4820m at altitude, admire the surrounding volcanoes and take in views of the Cordillera de Chila and the Colca Valley. End the day with a soothing soak in the natural hot springs at Chivay.

Day 11  Calco Canyon to Arequipa    
Awaken early for breakfast before travelling to Arequipa, stop at Condor Cross en route for a picturesque view of the canyon. Hopefully you can catch a glimpse as condors swoop through the air and glide on the thermals.

Day 12  Arequipa to Lima    
Marvel at the impressive city of Arequipa, with its interesting colonial architecture and surrounding scenic views of volcanoes. Have a unique experience at lunch of dining with a local family but not before you buy the ingredients at San Camilo market and help cook the dish. After this memorable meal fly from Arequipa to Lima.

Day 13  Lima      
Transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
