Itinerary
Day 1 Lima
Arrive into Lima and transfer to your hotel, after the welcome meeting with your fellow travellers, your tour leader will take you on a brief walking tour of Miraflores area. Enjoy some South American cuisine at one of the many restaurants and cafes.
Day 2 Lima to Paracas
Take a walking tour of downtown Lima this morning, explore the old streets to get a feel for colonial life, the San Francisco Monastery and the Central market. Enjoy a variety of Peruvian delights and local street food before heading to Paracas.
Day 3 Paracas to Nazca
Wake up early for an excursion to Islas Ballestas home to an abundance of wildlife. Return to Paracas to continue your journey on to Nazca, stopping in Huacachina along the way. Nazca is home to the mysterious Nazca Lines and a city of colourful houses with a pretty main square.
Days 4-5 Arequipa
Journey to Arequipa a beautiful Spanish colonial city, known as ‘La Ciudad Blanca’ by private van. The beautiful 'White City' of Arequipa is surrounded by volcanoes, is rich in Spanish colonial architecture and abounds with local culture and cuisine. Take a guided walking tour and visit the main square, there will be some free time to spend relaxing in a café in the main plaza or visit the Juanita Museum.
Days 6-7 Puno/Lake Titicaca
Travel by minivan to Puno on the shores of Lake Titicaca, enjoy this colourful town on the Peruvian shores of Lake Titicaca, expect to see traditionally dressed locals, chaotic markets and, if lucky enough, even dancing in the streets. Tour the lake by slow motor boat stopping off to visit the floating islands.
Days 8-9 Cusco
Continue to Cusco across the spectacular Altiplano, on arrival take time to acclimatise to the city’s 3,450m altitude and explore the many Baroque churches and ancient temples that dot the city. Take an orientation walk and visit the façade of Qoricancha temple, the local San Pedro market and the main square. There will be opportunity to buy some souvenirs and local handicrafts. Spend some free time to further explore Cusco.
Day 10 Sacred Valley/Ollantaytambo
Drive onto Sacred Valley today, once the heartland of the Inca Empire and now contains picturesque villages and impressive archeological sites. Visit the fortress ruins at Sacsayhuaman, later head to a local community and gain insight into the local lifestyle, you will also enjoy lunch here. Next head to the town of Ollantaytambo an incredible archeological site.
Day 11 Aguas Calientes
Head to Aguas Calientes, nestled in the cloud forest at the foot of Machu Piccu, the remainder of the day is free to relax.
Days 12-13 Machu Picchu/Cusco
Take a very early bus along the winding road to Machu Piccu where you meet a local guide and visit the ruins. There will be plenty of free time after the guided visit for photos and further exploration. Later return to Cusco.
Days 14-15 Lima
Fly back to Lima from Cusco and spend the rest of the day at leisure, depart at any time the following day.
