Itinerary
Day 1 Lima
Welcome to Peru. Arrive in the capital city of Lima and make your way to the hotel for a welcome meeting at 2pm followed by an optional walking tour of the downtown area.
Day 2 Lima to Cusco
Catch a morning flight to Cusco and head out on a walking tour to discover its attractions such as San Pedro market and San Blas Square then finish with a visit to the Chocolate museum.
Day 3 Cusco to Ollantaytambo
Journey to your next stop in Ollantaytambo through the mystical Sacred Valley, stopping for lunch along the way with a local community and learn all about their traditional lifestyle. On arrival at your destination check out the towns archaeological site featuring the remnants of an Incan city.
Days 4 Ollantaytambo to the Inca Trail
Travel to the start of your trek and meet your crew before continuing on past the Inca sites of Huillca Raccay and Llactapata, as well as incredible views of snow-capped Veronica Peak until you reach your campsite. If you would prefer to take the lesser travelled Quarry Trail or spend longer in Cusco and take the train to Machu Picchu please speak to your travel consultant about these options.
Days 5-6 Inca Trail
Ascend to the highest point of the trail on Day five, known as ‘Dead Woman’s Pass’, before descending to the campsite in Pacaymayo Valley. Start Day six climbing through the valley to Runkuracay pass, enjoying the mountain views along the way, then continue to the ruins of Phuyupatamarca and descend the Inca Steps to reach your final campsite.
Days 7-8 Machu Picchu to Cusco
Begin your last day of trekking early as you make your way to the famous Sungate and take in the unforgettable views of Machu Picchu. Take a guided tour to soak up this unique destination before returning to Cusco for a free evening. Day eight will be your leisure to explore the city.
Days 9-10 Cusco to Amazon Jungle
Catch a flight to Puerto Maldonado as you prepare for two nights in the wilds of the Amazon. Take an orientation walk on arrival then settle in for the night before exploring the depths of the jungle on Day 10. As you explore the area on a half day guided trek keep your eyes out for the brightly coloured macaws, the giant otters and the many other exotic creatures that call this land home.
Days 11-12 Amazon Jungle to Lima
Leave the natural wonders of the rainforest behind as you catch a flight back to Lima where you will have the day free to explore. Your tour concludes after breakfast on Day 12
