Day 1  Mexico City
Arrive in bustling Mexico City and make your way to your hotel where you’ll meet your fellow travellers and tour leader.

Day 2  Mexico City
Get to grips with the city during an orientation walk this morning. Work up an appetite and sample authentic soft corn tacos for lunch. The rest of the day is free to explore this wonderful city.

Day 3  Mexico City to Puebla
This morning visit the community of San Pedro Tlahuac before catching a bus late afternoon to Puebla. On arrival, your tour leader will take you on a short walking tour of this attractive colonial city. Day 4 Puebla A full day in Puebla gives enough time to explore the historic centre. There’s also a chance to head to the local market and perhaps pick up some handicrafts.

Days 5-6  Puebla to Oaxaca
Take the bus to Oaxaca where you have two nights to explore this creative and historic city. On day 6, you may choose to visit the Monte Alban ruins outside of the city.

Day 7  Oaxaca to San Cristóbal de las Casas
There’s more time today to soak up Oaxaca’s unique atmosphere before an overnight bus journey to San Cristóbal de las Casas.

Days 8-9  San Cristóbal de las Casas
Arrive early on day 8 into this atmospheric city and take an orientation walk. Afterwards, enjoy a tour of the local area, including a visit to Zinacantan. Day 9 is at your leisure.

Day 10  San Cristóbal de las Casas to Palenque
Depart for Palenque town, a small settlement in the heart of the jungle close to the magnificent ruins of the same name.

Day 11  Palenque to Mérida
Visit the ruins this morning, dating back nearly 1,500 years. These Mayan relics right in the heart of the jungle are incredibly atmospheric. In the afternoon, travel to vibrant Mérida, one of Mexico’s best loved destinations.

Days 12-13  Mérida
You have two full days to explore Mérida. An optional guided city tour will show you the main sights while it’s also worth getting up early to check out the outdoor markets. If you fancy a break from the city, a visit to the Mayan ruins of Uxmal is the perfect way to spend a day.

Day 14  Mérida to Playa del Carmen
No visit to Mexico is complete without a visit to Chichén Itzá. You’ll spend around three hours at this incredible site before continuing to beachside Playa del Carmen. Sit back, relax and enjoy a drink as the sun goes down.

Day 15  Playa del Carmen
Your tour ends this morning.
