Itinerary

Day 1 Georgetown         
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.  
   
Day 2 Georgetown         
Enjoy a full day tour of Guyana’s thriving capital city. See the highlights including the impressive gothic style St George’s Cathedral, the Bourda Market and the beautiful Botanical Gardens. There will also be the chance to prepare some delicious Guyanese cuisine and sample some local rum.  

Day 3 Kaieteur Falls  
See one of Guyana's most impressive natural wonders, the remarkable Kaieteur Falls. Surrounded by vast rainforest, this is one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world and sure to make for an unforgettable day.  

Day 4 Georgetown to Iwokrama Forest Reserve  
Leave the Atlantic coast behind and enjoy spectacular views as you fly over the pristine jungle to the Iwokrama Forest Reserve. This fragile environment is home to a huge amount wildlife including monkeys, giant anteaters and caiman plus a plethora of birdlife.  

Day 5 Iwokrama Forest Reserve  
Embark on a hike to the top of Turtle Mountain for fantastic views over the canopy and enjoy cruises on the river to search for wildlife, if you're lucky you may spot the magnificent but elusive jaguar.  
   
Day 6 Iwokrama Forest Reserve  
Head into the treetops and explore the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway, a series of suspension bridges which are up to 30m above the forest floor.

Day 7 Iwokrama Forest Reserve    
Wake before dawn to see the sun rise over the canopy and spot a variety of birds who welcome in another day. Explore the forest trails and enjoy being surrounded by pristine rainforest.

Day 8 Iwokrama Forest Reserve to the Rupununi Region  
A full day adventure will take you from the Iwokrama Forest Reserve to the remote village of Rewa in the Rupununi savannah. Take a boat trip to see the enormous water lily and national flower of Guyana, the Victoria Amazonica.  

Day 9 Rupununi Region  
Hike to the summit of Awarmie Mountain where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of undisturbed rainforest and to the mountains beyond.

Day 10 Rupununi Region  
Search for one of the giants of the jungle, the Goliath Bird-Eating Spider. These huge spiders have a leg span of up to 30cm and despite their misleading name, prefer a diet of frogs, lizards and small rodents.  

Day 11 Rupununi Region    
Journey by boat and road to Karanambu, home to the late Diane McTurk, a conservationist and world-renowned expert on Giant Otters. Take a boat trip in search of Diane's beloved otters, these charismatic animals are almost 2m in length.  

Day 12 Rupununi Region  
Today look for another of Guyana's giants, the Giant Anteater. With any luck you'll spot one of these magnificent animals digging out their breakfast from one of the termite mounds which dot the savannah.  

Day 13 Rupununi Region  
Depart Karanambu and visit the village of Yupukari to interact with some of the local craftspeople. Join local researchers from your lodge as they study black caiman. Catch, weigh and tag these endangered members of the alligator family before releasing them back into the river.

Day 14 Rupununi Region to Georgetown  
Leave the wilderness behind as you fly back to the city of Georgetown. Take a cruise along the Demerara River and learn about the importance of the river to the city's development and watch flocks of colourful birds return to roost as the sun sets.  

Day 15 Georgetown  
Spend the day at leisure before transferring to the airport in time for your flight.
