Itinerary
Day 1 Quito
The morning is yours to explore at leisure before meeting up with your fellow travellers in the afternoon.
Day 2 Quito to Santa Cruz Island
Take an early flight to the Galápagos Islands and your first glimpse of exotic wildlife. Explore the twin sinkholes of Los Gemelos, home to abundant wildlife, before heading into the highlands for lunch at a rancho farm. From here you will be transferred to the port to board Grand Daphne.
Day 3 Floreana Island
Visit Post Office Bay, home to oldest postal system in the Americas and take a 1km hike in search of sea lions, flamingos, pintails, and stilts. There will also be the opportunity to snorkel the unique swimming hole of the Devil’s Crown.
Day 4 Española Island
Enjoy a morning hike to witness the breeding site for an estimated 24,000 waved albatross. Continue through booby colonies to the rocky trails of Punta Suarez before cooling off with a spot of snorkelling.
Day 5 San Cristóbal Island
After a morning visit to the 150 meter tall basalt crater of Leon Dormido, spend some time snorkelling at Cerro Brujo before visiting the San Cristóbal Interpretation Centre to learn about the history and geography of the Galápagos.
Day 6 Santa Fe Island and Plaza Sur Island
Santa Fe Island is home to some of the most beautiful coves in the whole archipelago. Hike along the coast into the opuntia forest, keeping your eyes peeled for sea lions, iguanas, and lava lizards. In the afternoon visit Plaza Sur Island and the largest land iguana population in the Galápagos.
Day 7 Genovesa Island
Genovesa Island’s varied landscapes are home to nesting grounds for all three kinds of boobies, including the rare red-footed booby. From here, head to Bahia Darwin where you will find large breeding colonies of seabirds.
Day 8 Santiago Island and Santa Cruz Island
Enjoy a leisurely hour long walk along the pahoehoe lava and with some luck, you might spot marina iguanas, Sally Lightfoot crabs and penguins. During the walk your naturalist guide will take you through the geological history of the island. Travel on to Cerro Dragon, which is one of the best places to see land iguanas.
Day 9 Santa Cruz Island to Quito
Enjoy an early morning zodiac ride to explore Caleta Tortuga Negra, a breeding ground for green turtles, before boarding your flight back to Quito.
Day 10 Quito
Your tour ends after breakfast this morning.
