Itinerary
Day 1 San José
Arrive into Costa Rica in time for an evening welcome meeting.
Day 2 San José
After breakfast, take a short drive to La Paz Waterfall Gardens located to walk along a trail within the rainforest to a great viewpoint from which to watch the cascading falls. This afternoon is free to relax and enjoy the hotel swimming pool, or explore San Jose at your own pace.
Day 3 San José to Tortuguero NP
Leave San José behind to travel to the north-east of Costa Rica to Tortuguero National Park in the Caribbean Lowlands. Tortuguero is most famous as a nesting site for the endangered Green turtle, which can be seen arriving onto the beach to lay eggs from late July to October, then during November to January baby turtles start to hatch and make their way towards the ocean.
Day 4 Tortuguero NP
Take a morning to discover the extraordinary flora and fauna of Tortuguero, and encounter monkeys, caiman, iguanas, butterflies and many of the 300+ bird species. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast by the river, before a free afternoon to explore your surroundings.
Days 5-6 Tortuguero NP to Cahuita
Journey to Cahuita then take the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the pool, beach or discover our new surroundings. On day 6, visit a famous sloth sanctuary and enjoy a 2 hour boat tour. Return to Cahuita in the afternoon to visit the National Park and explore a coast trail.
Days 7-8 Cahuita to Sarapiqui
Today you’ll journey to Sarapiqui, then in the evening take a night walk through Tirimbina Biological Reserve for a different perspective on the rainforest and its many inhabitants. On day 8, enjoy a free day to explore.
Days 9-10 Sarapiqui to Arenal
This morning, you’re driven to the area surrounding Arenal Volcano. The rest of the day is free to explore the area either at your own pace or on one of the optional excursions available. You could take a canopy walk or an optional zip-wire through the canopy, or just enjoy some time at the hotel swimming pool! On the morning of day 10, take a guided nature walk through Arenal Volcano National Park, then later that afternoon you’ll visit Kalambu Hot Springs to enjoy a hot thermal bath from the volcanic spring water.
Day 11 Arenal to Dominical
Travel southeast along the coast to Dominical. You can enjoy various optional activities this afternoon, visit the beach or enjoy the hotel swimming pool, before your first of three nights spent here.
Day 12 Manuel Antonio NP
Today you’re driven to Manuel Antonio National Park for a guided nature walk to have some very close wildlife encounters. Keep your eyes peeled for white-faced Capuchin monkeys, Howler monkeys, the endangered Titi monkey and even three toed sloths.
Days 13-14 Dominical to San José
Day 13 is yours to enjoy your surroundings at Dominical. Then on day 14, you’ll return to San José with an afternoon at leisure.
Day 15 San José
After breakfast, your journey comes to an end.
