Itinerary
Day 1 Bogotá
Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 2 Bogotá
Discover Bogotá on a half day tour. Wander through La Candelaria, the city’s historic quarter, then explore the rest of city including the ornate Cathedral and Botero museum. Finish your day on Monserrate Hill for spectacular views of the city and surrounding mountains.
Day 3 Bogotá to Los Llanos
Transfer to the airport and fly to Yopal. On arrival drive to 4★ Savanna Orinoquia Lodge set in the vast grasslands of Los Llanos. This remote region is home to a huge range of wildlife, including capybaras, anacondas, pumas, howler monkeys and giant anteaters. This afternoon take a walk to explore the reserve.
Days 4-5 Los Llanos
Spend two days experiencing the magic of these vast plains on a variety of excursions.
Day 6 Los Llanos to Medellín
Transfer to Yopal airport and fly to Medellín. The rest of the day is at leisure.
Days 7-8 Santa Fe de Antioquia & Guatapé
Drive to the lovely town of Santa Fe de Antioquia and step back in time as you stroll around its pretty streets. On your second day visit the pastel coloured houses in the village of Guatapé and explore the surrounding countryside.
Days 9-11 Medellín to Nuquí
After breakfast fly to Nuquí on the Pacific Coast. On arrival transfer to the pier and take a boat to 3★ La Kuka Lodge, your home for the next three nights. Take a cruise searching for humpback whales (July to October), visit the local community or surf the waves of this ruggedly beautiful coastline.
Day 12 Nuquí to Medellín
Transfer to the airport and fly back to Medellín.
Day 13 Medellín
Learn about the social transformation of Medellín after the death of Pablo Escobar and experience the innovative transport systems which have changed the lives of local residents. Your guide will relay stories of the past and explain how music and art have played an important role in the community. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
Additional Options: The characterful neighbourhood of La Candelaria has a great architectural and cultural heritage with many beautiful Spanish colonial buildings. Take a cycling tour of Bogotá’s colourful graffiti, murals and street art found on the walls of this historic centre. These are often an artistic, social and political form of expression of the city’s residents and your guide will explain the story behind some of these scenes. This is a fantastic way to discover a different side of Bogotá.
