Itinerary
Day 1 Puerto Montt to Chiloé Island
Travel to Chiloé Island and stop at the thriving fishing village of Dalcahue. Here the port bustles with colourful fishing boats, coming and going from the charming harbour. Have lunch at a local market before continuing on through the countryside to Castro, the island’s capital. See the palafito (stilt houses) and the brightly coloured San Francisco Church.
Day 2 Chiloé Island
Explore this captivating island further including the hamlet of Quemchi and tiny fishing villages which are dotted along the coast. See a number of historic churches built in the 19th Century, some of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Next you will visit Aucar Island which is only accessed via a footbridge.
Day 3 Chiloé Island to Puerto Montt
Take a ferry across to nearby Quinchao Island where you will visit the small town of Achao. Enjoy panoramic views of the nearby islands and the glacier-topped Andes to the east. Later return to Puerto Montt on the Chilean mainland.
