Itinerary

Day 1  Auckland      
Arrive in Auckland, explore the city at your own leisure this afternoon before meeting your group in the evening.      

Day 2  Auckland to Rotorua      
Head south through the dairy farming plains of Thames Valley to Lake Rotorua for a bush walk with plenty of great swimming spots.      

Day 3  Rotorua to Taupo      
Start by travelling to Whirinaki Forest Park. Hike amongst weeping ferns and forest giants in this Jurassic rainforest. En-route to Taupo visit Waiotapu Thermal Reserve and enjoy fascinating geysers, expansive vistas, huge volcanic crates and sinter terrace formations. Visit Huka Falls before passing Taupo, situated on the shores of the largest lake in New Zealand.      

Day 4  Taupo to Tongariro NP      
Drive to Tongariro National Park - a dual World Heritage Area due to its important Maori associations and its outstanding volcanic features. En route enjoy a short forest hike on the slopes of Mt Pihanga to the mystical Lake Rotopunamu.    

Day 5 Tongariro NP    
Trek the famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing, regarded as one of the best day walks in the world.      

Day 6  Tongariro NP to Wellington      
This morning, drive to Wellington and enjoy some free time.

Day 7  Wellington to Abel Tasman NP      
Board a scenic flight to South Island, before driving through the vineyards of Nelson Bay to Abel Tasman National Park. Hail a water taxi to Onetahuti Beach and start hiking the famed coastal track to Bark Bay.      

Day 8  Abel Tasman NP to Murchison      
Wander through lush coastal forests and cross Falls River on a 47m suspension bridge and hike to the golden beaches of Anchorage. Head back to the mainland to the quiet town of Murchison via water taxi and private vehicle.      

Day 9  Murchison to Paparoa NP      
Drive west and stop en route at Cape Foulwind to see a fur seal colony. This afternoon, begin an overnight hike in Paparoa National Park.    

Day 10  Paparoa NP to Fox Glacier      
Hike back down to Fox River before driving along the coast to Fox Glacier, stopping en route at Hokitika.  

Day 11  Fox Glacier to Wanaka    
This morning, hike up the terminal face of Fox Glacier. This afternoon, drive through this remarkable World Heritage Area to Makarora stopping at remote beaches, coastal lagoons and forests en route, stay overnight in the lakeside town of Wanaka.    

Day 12 Wanaka to Queenstown  
After breakfast overlooking Lake Wanaka enjoy a beautiful drive up the Matukituki Valley, you will hike from Raspberry Flat to Rob Roy Glacier before driving over the Crown Range into Queenstown. .      

Day 13 Queenstown  
Enjoy a free day in New Zealand's adventure capital with numerous activities on offer or relax with amazing lake views.    
Day 14  Queenstown to Te Anau      
Head into Fjordland National Park - World Heritage Area and hike on the Kepler track enjoying sweeping views before heading to your base in Te Anau,  

Day 15 Milford Sound      
Rise early and drive through the Homer tunnel to Milford Sound.You have the option here to take a 2 hour cruise to spot waterfalls, wildlife and Mitre Peak. In the afternoon trek up to Key Summit for views across the Darran Mountains before returning to Te Anau via the splendid Eglington Valley.    

Day 16  Te Anau to Mount Cook NP    
Stop in quaint Cromwell before crossing Lindis Pass to Aoraki. The afternoon is at your leisure, perhaps take an unguided hike or simply relax and enjoy the views.    

Day 17 Mount Cook NP  
Hike up Mueller Ridge via Sealy Tarns, with views over the two highest peaks in New Zealand and Mueller Glacier. In the afternoon choose to either hike up to Hooker Valley or stroll around the village and visit the Sir Edmund Alpine Centre.    

Days 18-19  Mount Cook NP to Christchurch      
Enjoy a final hike in the Tasman Valley this morning before time at stunning Lake Tekapo. Afterwards, continue to Christchurch where your tour ends after breakfast on day 19.
