Itinerary
Days 1-2 Auckland
Soak up the lively atmosphere at Viaduct Harbour or head to the top of the iconic Sky Tower. The next day, venture across the bay to gorgeous Waiheke Island for a guided sampling of the area’s beautiful beaches and boutique wineries.
Day 3 Auckland to the Coromandel Peninsula
Pick up your car and enjoy the scenic drive to the wondrous Coromandel Peninsula, home to stunning coastline and exquisite beaches.
Day 4 The Coromandel Peninsula
Explore picturesque Cathedral Cove on a relaxing kayak tour, marveling at the famous rock formations and keeping an eye out for the resident dolphins.
Day 5 The Coromandel Peninsula to Rotorua
Head south to atmospheric Rotorua, set on the scenic lake from which the town takes its name.
Day 6 Rotorua
See the spectacular hissing geysers, natural hot springs and bubbling mud pools at the geothermal park. This evening enjoy a fascinating tour of the Tamaki Maori Village, learn of the ancient cultural traditions, marvel at the almighty haka ceremonial dance and savour a hangi feast, an authentic Maori meal cooked in an earth oven.
Day 7 Rotorua to Lake Taupo
Drive along the Thermal Explorer Highway to Lake Taupo, one of New Zealand’s natural wonders with a lake the size of Singapore! Perhaps enjoy a cruise to the majestic Huka Falls or try your hand at fishing.
Day 8 Lake Taupo to Turangi
Wonder at the dramatic scenery as you drive to Turangi, your base to explore nearby volcanic Tongariro National Park.
Day 9 Tongariro NP
Early start to begin your full day hike of this captivating national park, made up of three volcanic mountains which provide awe-inspiring natural scenery. With expert guides, trek the rewarding Tongariro Alpine Crossing, renowned as one of the world’s best one day hikes.
Days 10 -11 Turangi to Napier
Journey east through forest parks to the pretty town of Napier, home to beautiful 1930s Art Deco architecture. On your full day, enjoy a variety of varietals on a tour of the area’s best wineries.
Day 12 Napier to Martinborough
Continue to picturesque Martinborough, North Island’s first dark sky reserve and another of New Zealand’s beautiful wine regions, best discovered by bike.
Days 13-14 Martinborough to Wellington
Finish in New Zealand’s vibrant capital city, home to fascinating museums and a lively food and art scene.
Day 15 Wellington
Head to the airport for your journey home or continue on your adventure.
