Itinerary
Days 1-3 Auckland to Bay of Islands
Arrive in Auckland and transfer to your hotel. The following day, en route to the Bay of Islands, visit the Matakohe’s Kauri Museum then continue to the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. On day 3 take a catamaran cruise to Cape Brett and the Hole in the Rock.
Day 4 Bay of Islands to Auckland
Return to Auckland for your Freedom of Choice Touring activity. Perhaps take a cruise across Waitemata Harbour, visit the award-winning Weta Workshop Unleashed or attend the unique All Blacks Experience.
Days 5-6 Auckland to Rotorua
Travel to Waitomo for a guided tour of the underground glowworm caves. Continue to Rotorua to immerse yourself in Maori culture during a traditional feast. On day 6 enjoy a Freedom of Choice Touring activity; perhaps visit the Hobbiton Movie Set or encounter the mud pools and geysers at the Te Puia Thermal Reserve.
Days 7-8 Rotorua to Wellington
Follow the Thermal Explorer Highway to the impressive Huka Falls and beautiful Lake Taupo, then explore the vibrant city of Wellington on a sightseeing tour.
Day 9 Wellington to Christchurch
Take the Interislander ferry across the Cook Strait and cruise through the spectacular Marlborough Sounds. Travel down the coast stopping in the quaint fishing town of Kaikoura before continuing to Christchurch.
Day 10 Christchurch to Franz Josef
Board the TranzAlpine train for one of the world’s most scenic rail journeys. Glide through gorges and valleys as you cross the spectacular Southern Alps, then travel on to Franz Josef.
Days 11-12 Franz Josef to Queenstown
Continue enjoying impressive views of the glacier-formed Haast River Valley, then arrive in Queenstown to choose your Freedom of Choice Dining experience. Perhaps enjoy premium local produce at Finz Restaurant or dine aboard a vintage steamboat. On day 12 take a Freedom of Choice Touring activity – opt to experience a Dart River safari or indulge in some of central Otago’s finest wines.
Day 13 Queenstown to Milford Sound & Te Anau
Today is a real highlight as you visit Fiordland National Park. Cruise the full length of pristine Milford Sound and marvel at the breathtaking scenery.
Day 14 Te Anau to Dunedin
Travel through Southland to the city of Dunedin and enjoy a Freedom of Choice Touring activity. Options include a visit to New Zealand’s only castle or Olveston Historic Home.
Day 15 Dunedin to Mount Cook
Continue to UNESCO World Heritage listed Mount Cook National Park and choose your Freedom of Choice Touring activity. Perhaps visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre or enjoy a stargazing session at the planetarium.
Days 16-17 Mount Cook to Christchurch
Stop at Lake Tekapo to visit to the famous Church of the Good Shepherd, one of the most photographed scenes in New Zealand. Travel onward to Christchurch where your tour concludes with a transfer to the airport on day 17.
