Itinerary
Days 1-2 Auckland
Arrive in Auckland and explore this lovely waterside city at your own pace. Head up the Sky Tower for great views or take the short ferry to picturesque Waiheke Island.
Day 3 Auckland to the Coromandel Peninsula
Collect your motorhome and head east to the unspoilt Coromandel Peninsula, home to white sandy beaches, beautiful coves and charming towns and the perfect place for your first few nights in your motorhome.
Days 4-5 Coromandel Peninsula
Spend a few days exploring this pristine region of New Zealand. Perhaps head to Hot Water Beach and the spectacular Cathedral Cove.
Days 6-7 Coromandel Peninsula to Rotorua
Travel to the geothermal hotspot of Rotorua, home to bubbling geysers and volcanic mud pools, passing scenic vistas en route. Perhaps take a dip in a thermal hot springs and learn of New Zealand's Maori heritage in this fascinating region.
Days 8-9 Rotorua to Tongariro NP
Journey to the awe-inspiring volcanic landscapes of Tongariro National Park, passing Lake Taupo en route. On day 9, take one of the many walking trails or embark on one of New Zealand’s greatest day hikes, the challenging Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
Days 10-12 Tongariro NP to Hawke’s Bay
Head east to the beautiful vineyards of Hawke’s Bay. Sip delicious wine, sample delicious local food and explore the art deco town of Napier. If you choose a maui motorhome, there is the option to pre book a stay on the exclusive Linden Estate Vineyard for one of the nights.
Day 13 Hawke’s Bay to Wellington
Continue to Wellington, New Zealand’s capital. Take the Wellington Cable Car up the mountain for sweeping views or perhaps visit the stunning Botanical Gardens.
Day 14 Wellington to Nelson
Board the ferry to the South Island and drive to the nearby Nelson Tasman region on the north coast.
Days 15-16 Abel Tasman NP
Spend several days visiting the breathtakingly beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. Famed for golden beaches, beautiful coves and stunning coastal walks, this is Mother Nature at her best.
Day 17 Nelson to Marlborough
Retrace your steps slightly and drive to the spectacular world renowned wine region of Marlborough. If you choose a maui motorhome, choose to prebook an overnight stay in the grounds of the scenic Gibson Bridge Vineyard - speak to your travel consultant for more details.
Day 18 Marlborough to Kaikoura
Head down the east coast to coastal Kaikoura. Walk to the scenic lookout to spot the resident fur seal colony and enjoy the local delicacy of crayfish. Take a leisurely stroll along the coast and appreciate the beautiful views.
Day 19 Kaikoura
Join a whale watching cruise in searching of these magnificent animals.
Day 20 Kaikoura to Greymouth
Leave the east coast and pass through remarkable mountain scenery as you cross the country and head for the wild, yet equally as beautiful west coast.
Days 21-22 Greymouth to Franz Josef
Drive down the remote and rugged west coast, to the small village of Franz Josef. The best way to see Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers is from the air so we highly recommend a helicopter trip for unforgettable views of these awe-inspiring glaciers - speak to your travel consultant for more details.
Day 23 Franz Josef to Queenstown
Drive through the stunning Mount Aspiring National Park to lively Queenstown. With a wonderful lakeside setting alongside The Remarkables mountain range, Queenstown’s location is hard to beat. Drop your motorhome in Queenstown and check in to a hotel.
Days 24-25 Queenstown
The options for exploration from Queenstown are almost endless. Perhaps enjoy a full day tour to Milford Sounds to cruise the sparkling waters and go in search of wildlife or choose to take a 4WD Lord of the Rings location tour or hop on the skyline gondola for incredible views of Lake Wakatipu.
