Itinerary
Days 1-2 Auckland to Bay of Islands
Travel to the breathtaking Bay of Islands, stopping en route at the Matakohe Kauri Museum, dedicated to the mighty kauri tree and learn the secrets of the magical Waipoua Forest from a Maori guide. On day 2, explore the Kawiti Glowworm Caves with the Kawiti family guide.
Days 3-4 Bay of Islands to Auckland
Take a relaxing cruise with the opportunity to snorkel and explore the town of Russell at your own pace. On day 4, cruise Hokianga Harbour before heading back to Auckland.
Days 5-6 Auckland to Rotorua
Travel through lush farmlands en route to Rotorua. Later, take a private cruise across Lake Rotoiti and soak in secluded hot pools. Spend the following morning at leisure, before an exclusive lunch at Lake Tarawera.
Day 7 Rotorua to Tongariro NP
Visit the surreal geothermal reserve of Wai-O-Tapu, renowned for its bubbling mud pools. View Huka Falls before arriving into Taupo to see three magnificent active volcanoes across the lake. Continue to Tongariro National Park and explore the volcanic landscape.
Days 8-9 Tongariro NP to Wellington
Drive through the beautiful New Zealand countryside, passing small farming villages en route to Wellington. On day 9, you are free to explore Wellington at your leisure. Take a short walk to the waterfront, visit Te Papa National Museum or enjoy the boutique breweries.
Days 10-11 Wellington to Nelson
Cruise the Cook Strait to the South Island and tour the premier wine and food region of Marlborough, before continuing to Nelson. On day 11, explore the spectacular region of Abel Tasman National Park on a scenic cruise or walk.
Days 12-13 Nelson to Mount Cook
Travel along the rugged coastline to the Kaikoura Peninsula. Choose from a number of optional excursions, including a scenic whale watching flight. On day 13, enjoy lunch in a 100 year old homestead in Akaunui before continuing your journey to the stunning region of Mount Cook.
Day 14 Mount Cook to Queenstown
Explore the dramatic landscape on an early morning walk in the valleys around Mount Cook or perhaps take an optional scenic flight. Continue to Queenstown via the rugged Lindis Pass.
Day 15 Queenstown & Milford Sound
Milford Sound is one of New Zealand’s most scenic areas. Take a cruise through the majestic waters before returning to Queenstown on a stunning scenic flight over the Southern Alps.
Days 16-17 Queenstown to Wanaka
With a free day, perhaps take a thrilling jet boat ride or explore the boutique shops of Queenstown. On day 17, visit Arrowtown, the home of New Zealand’s gold mining heritage and continue to Wanaka for a free afternoon.
Day 18 Wanaka to Franz Josef
Head into the pristine mountain scenery of Mount Aspiring National Park and continue north to the village of Franz Josef in Glacier Country.
Days 19-21 Franz Josef to Christchurch
Pass mirror lakes and the Southern Alps en route to Punakaiki. Explore the sculpted limestone sea stacks and towering cliffs of Pancake Rocks. Journey to Christchurch on day 21 where your tour comes to an end, stopping at Arthur’s Pass National Park en route.
