Itinerary
Day 1 Auckland
Arrive in Auckland and make your own way to your hotel, where you’ll meet your fellow travellers.
Days 2-3 Auckland to Rotorua
Head south to Rotorua, stopping at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves en route. Day 3 is free for you to explore in your own time before an evening visit to a Maori cultural village.
Days 4-5 Rotorua to Wellington
Take in the varied scenery of the North Island from fertile farmland to volcanic peaks on the drive to Wellington. Enjoy the atmosphere of this picturesque city with an orientation walk on day 5 and perhaps visit the Te Papa Museum in your free time.
Day 6 Wellington to Kaikoura
Cruise the Cook Strait and continue along the Pacific Ocean to coastal Kaikoura, known for its diverse marine wildlife.
Day 7 Kaikoura to Hanmer Springs
Opt to swim with dolphins or go whale watching during a free morning in Kaikoura before travelling to Hanmer Springs.
Days 8-9 Hanmer Springs to Franz Josef
Take in the stunning scenery while travelling across the Southern Alps to the rugged and remote West Coast, before staying in the rainforest near the world’s fastest moving glacier. On day 9 explore the area and perhaps enjoy an optional glacier hike.
Days 10-11 Franz Josef to Queenstown
Hit the road again to reach Queenstown, the adventure capital of the world. With free time on day 11 take your pick of exciting optional activities on offer from skydiving, paragliding, jet boating or hiking.
Day 12 Doubtful Sound
Enjoy the stunning scenery of Fiordland National Park and Doubtful Sound on a day cruise. Take in the waterfalls and wildlife, before returning to Queenstown for the night.
Day 13 Queenstown to Tekapo
Head through the centre of the South Island to Tekapo, near New Zealand’s highest peak, Mount Cook. Spend the afternoon hiking the national park, taking in the alpine scenery and learn about Sir Edmund Hillary at the Visitor’s Centre.
Days 14-15 Tekapo to Christchurch
Travel to the ‘Garden City’ of Christchurch, a little piece of England in New Zealand. Your tour concludes after breakfast on day 15.
