Itinerary
Day 1 Negombo
Ayubowan, and welcome to Sri Lanka! An airport transfer will whizz you to a boutique hotel in the seaside town of Negombo, where you’ll meet the rest of your group in time for dinner and sunset drinks.
Day 2 Negombo to Sigiriya
Set off to the area known as ‘The Cultural Triangle’, and dive straight into Sri Lanka’s rich heritage. Trek up to the Dambulla Cave Temples to explore the sacred caverns and take a breather to soak up the spectacular views over the surrounding countryside.
Day 3 Sigiriya
Get up at the crack of dawn to witness the sunrise over one of Sri Lanka’s most famous landmarks – the ancient UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sigiriya. It’s a steep climb to the top, but the view from 700 feet up makes it worth every step. This evening, head to a local village where the community will treat you to a mouth-watering, authentic meal around a crackling bonfire.
Day 4 Sigiriya to Kandy
Get another taste of Sri Lanka’s history as you travel to the city of Kandy. Watch the peaceful crowds paying their respects at the Temple of the Tooth and soak up the grandeur of the Royal Palace complex, then grab some beers around the lake in time for sunset.
Day 5 Kandy to Ella
Make sure your camera is charged and ready for a day of truly unbelievable scenery! Drive to Nuwara Eliya for a tour of a tea plantation and learn all about the brewing process from leaf to cup. Caffeinated and raring to go, next stop is a family run cooking school where you’ll make some delicious national dishes. Then when you thought the day couldn’t get any better, board the world famous train to Ella, chugging past waterfalls and wildlife, through the endless lush green landscape.
Day 6 Ella
Another early start today, but one you won’t regret. Take the beautiful hike up Little Adam’s Peak for views all the way across the Ella Gap. Snap some photos of the dramatic Nine Arches Bridge and enjoy a hearty lunch in town.
Day 7 Ella to Uda Walawe
After a morning dip in one of Ella’s many waterfalls, travel to Uda Walawe National Park. Check into your glamping tent for the night and fall asleep to the sounds of the nearby jungle.
Day 8 Uda Walawe to Unawatuna
Hop into a 4WD and set off on safari into the national park! The wilderness here is home to vast herds of elephants, as well as monkeys, buffalos, flamingos and more. Camera full, head to the final stop of your adventure, the chilled out beachside town of Unawatuna.
Day 9 Unawatuna
Today is yours to do with as you please. Treat yourself to a lie in or jump out of bed and head straight to the stunning golden beach. Tonight, celebrate an amazing trip with a farewell dinner and night out on the town.
Day 10 Unawatuna
Your Sri Lankan journey ends today; say goodbye to the gang and depart at any time.
