Itinerary
Day 1 Negombo
Upon arrival at Colombo airport transfer to your hotel in nearby Negombo.
Day 2 Negombo to the Cultural Triangle
Set off this morning for the Cultural Triangle. Stop at Ritigala for a two hour hike to discover an ancient monastery set amid a lush orchid-festooned forest.
Day 3 Cultural Triangle
Head into the countryside to experience traditional Sri Lankan village life. Take a stroll through the peaceful surroundings and board a canoe to sail around an ancient reservoir, home to a variety of birdlife. Enjoy a delicious local lunch before returning to your hotel.
Day 4 Sigiriya & Polonnaruwa
Climb the spectacular rock fortress of Sigiriya and later visit the remains of the former capital city of Polonnaruwa.
Day 5 Cultural Triangle to Kandy
Drive south to Matale where you will stop for lunch and a guided visit to a working spice and fruit farm. Continue to the hill country capital of Kandy and in the evening enjoy a cultural show and visit the famous Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
Day 6 Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Visit the beautiful Peradeniya Botanic Gardens before driving up into the tea planted hills around Nuwara Eliya, stopping en route at a tea factory.
Day 7 Horton Plains NP
It’s an early start today as you set off to Horton Plains National Park for a six mile hike. Pass beautiful Baker’s Falls and in clear weather admire the spectacular view from the World’s End escarpment.
Day 8 Nuwara Eliya to Yala NP
Depart for the south coast and your hotel near Yala National Park.
Day 9 Bundala & Yala NP
Rise early for a game drive to see the birdlife in Bundala National Park. Later enjoy an afternoon game drive in Yala.
Day 10 Yala NP to Udawalawe NP
This morning visit Yala for a second time before heading to Udawalawe National Park.
Day 11 Udawalawe NP
Enjoy a leisurely morning after a couple of early starts, and later visit the Elephant Transit Home, an amazing centre which looks after orphaned elephants. After watching the elephant feeding session, embark on an afternoon game drive.
Day 12 Udawalawe NP to Galle
Depart early and journey south to Galle, stopping en route at Sinharaja Forest Reserve where you will soak up the glorious jungle sights and sounds on a moderate trek.
Day 13 Galle to Bentota
Explore Galle Fort on a walking tour with a local resident before driving north to your beachfront resort.
Day 14 Bentota
Spend today unwinding by the beach or make use of the excellent array of facilities at your resort.
Day 15 Bentota to Colombo
Bid farewell and transfer to Colombo airport.
